It’s true that my tics can make things very difficult but on balance I think they make my days more interesting.
To test this theory I thought about what I did today and what my tics added to each activity. Here’s a brief summary:
I‘ll let you draw your own conclusions about whether or not the day was improved by my tics.…
I settled into bed last night chatting happily as usual to the lamp-post I can see from my window. Then, as I lay down, I spotted something else familiar and my tics responded immediately.
“Oh there you are cartoon star.”
“Where’ve you been cartoon star?”…
A few days ago I heard about an article in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry and it was something I was very pleased to read.
The piece was reporting on a study carried out at St George’s Hospital in London into the ‘distinct bouts of severe, continuous, non–suppressible and disabling tics’ experienced by some people with Tourettes.…

I’ve written before about a local art shop that I can only access by going through the goods entrance because of the steps up to the main entrance . Poppy and I went there earlier today and we’re now painfully aware that entering by this route is not only undesirable, it’s also very dangerous.…
Leftwing Idiot and I are hanging out at the castle – he’s watching TV while I write this post.
Earlier he made us a delicious dinner – a stew packed with fresh vegetables. Towards the end of the meal I started feeling surging sensations rippling up from the base of my spine.…
Last night I started looking at my plans for Christmas and the New Year, and it kept me up much later than I’d planned. I was working out whether I’m going to be able to afford to take my annual leave.…
