Two Weeks To The Brew

There are just two weeks until we bring the Barbican’s Pit to life with amazing activities and performances for children and adults, celebrating creativity, diversity and bottom-up change.

Brewing In The Basement has a sensational line-up of radical artists all set to mix things up. But this event also needs the energy and imagination of great audiences, and this is where you come in.

We want children, young people, families, and anyone who loves to make and play to come and get stuck in during the day on Saturday 4th November, 12:00–17:00.

Express yourself by creating experimental wearables with the PERKY team, lose yourself in front of a Kimatica‘s magic mirror, sing your heart out with the Sounds Like Chaos crew and festival favourites Loki bring multi-sensory challenges, mazes, music and mayhem to the mix.

With a raucous Basement Bash in the evening from 18:00, this event is for adults too. Hosted by Touretteshero, an incredible line up will bring the Barbican’s Pit to life in new ways: anarchist rock anthems and ludicrous lullabies from Bradford’s bipolar superstar Captain Hotknives, eagerly anticipated new material from legendry five-piece band The Fish Police, and action-packed performances from Sounds Like Chaos, PERKY, BSL poet Donna Williams and audio described burlesque by the amazing Amelia Cavallo. Expect game shows, mermaids, bra-burning, and lots of biscuits!

The event is wheelchair accessible, relaxed, audio described, BSL interpreted, with captioning for the evening performances too.

Tickets are going fast so do book as soon as you can. Half-price tickets are available for disabled people, 14–25-year-olds, and groups. To book these discounted tickets email: access@barbican.org.uk or call 020 7382 7348 during office hours.

The event on Friday 3rd is for schools and groups only, and there are still a few spaces available, so if you’re a teacher or a parent/carer who knows of a class that should be part of this get in touch with the Group Bookings team on: 020 7382 7211 (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm) or Groups@barbican.org.uk

I can’t wait to share our big bubbling brew with you.
