Six Million Cookies

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob Google Translate funktioniert gut. Wenn es das tut sollte sagen: ein großes Willkommen zu meinem deutschen Leser.

I’m trying my hand at German, not because my tics have suddenly jumped language but because my book ‘Welcome to Biscuit Land’ will shortly be available in German.

You can pre-order a copy here.

Working with the translator has been a fascinating process – particularly at the point where we needed to unpick culturally specific references. She wanted to know what Spandex was and if a “Lizard Man called Fred” was a real person.

It made me think about my tics in a new way, and I wondered how much something like, “David Cameron Wacky Races pyjama bed set” would mean to anyone who hadn’t grown up in this country in the 1980s.

I have no idea how Biscuit Land will work in a totally different language – if you speak German and fancy giving it a read, please let me know.

One thing I do know is that ‘Six Million Cookies A Year: My Life As Touretteshero’ adds a whole new flavour to the title of the book.
