Today’s the start of my second week of not eating any sugar (other than in fruit).
For years my friends and family have insisted that what I eat and drink affects my tics. Although I think some things can exacerbate them a bit, I’ve yet to be convinced that sugar’s one of the worst (provided I take it in moderation). The trouble is I’m not brilliant at moderation.
The ‘fits’ I’m having are proving to be a great basis for testing theories about what makes me tic. They’re very distinct, and we’re recording their frequency and severity in detail which means I can see if they get better or worse when I do or don’t do certain things.
For me the jury’s still out as far as sugar is concerned. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
