My niece, affectionately known as Squidge, is now six months old and she’s been desperately trying to stand for the last few weeks.
Today, in a bid to settle this, we decided to have a standing competition. Fat Sister held Squidge’s hands and Innes held mine. There was a countdown and we both got up and gave it our all.
The baby won – out-lasting me by a significant amount of time.
The tinge of envy I feel is massively outweighed by the joy of watching Squidge grow and develop, and the knowledge that Fat Sister and King Russell’s jobs as parents are about to get much more exciting.
