Messy

It’s the Easter holidays and the three projects I help run were buzzing today. Because it’s a playscheme week I was moving about between the sites more than usual, but I hadn’t taken my wheelchair.

Our adventure playground was having a messy play day. The staff and children had laid out massive tarpaulins and they were all having a great time playing with corn flour, salt dough, paint and food colouring.

My messy time, in contrast, was much less creative and not much fun either. I fell down and had a ‘ticcing fit’ in a damp muddy patch. As I went past the messy children with my support worker to get cleaned up I really regretted not bringing my chair.

But one of the children cheered me up by offering me a dazzling corn flour and paint milkshake.
