Beginning an Adventure

This afternoon Poppy and I jumped on a train to Somerset, to join Leftwing Idiot for a few days. He’s making a film with our friend Nez, describing their journey along the St. Michael Ley in a pedal powered, three-wheeled car.

They picked us up at the station and took us to meet the rest of the team:
Jade, Nez’s girlfriend, driver of the support vehicle and organisational mastermind; Laura, who’s a photographer and has been taking beautiful pictures of the journey; and Rupert and Jo who’ve been helping with logistics. Pete, who’s putting us up for the next few days, came to meet us. We’d never have found his place by ourselves as it was down miles of bumpy track. Pete and his partner Kate and their two daughters live in an amazing converted van which is parked with a number of others in a derelict farmyard.

Kate had prepared a fantastic meal. I felt very relaxed and happy as we ate and chatted. It feels very good to have a break away from the city and hang out with lovely people and good friends.
