Election campaigning is in full swing here in the UK as we speed towards polling day on May 7th. In the last few days lots of the main political parties have been launching their manifestos. They’ve been all over the news, and every time another slick political catch-phrase sticks in my ear, my tics respond with their own:

“A Better Yucca Plant, a Better Future”

“A Brighter, More Secure, Foreskin”

“A Manifesto With Balloons at its Heart”

“For The Common Bin”

“Policies for People Dressed As Unicorns”

I thought I’d go one step further and let my tics create their own mini-manifesto.…

Chopin and I have been hanging out all day, which has been lovely. I can’t believe it’s only a year since we started working on Backstage In Biscuit Land together.

There was no delay in getting started on day two of Idea Amplifier – everyone arrived early (despite the clocks changing), eager to start.

We’d all been reflecting on four questions overnight, so our first job this morning was to share our thoughts about each of them.…

I was awake early this morning, feeling excited but also a bit nervous. I quickly got myself ready and then along with Leftwing Idiot and my support worker Lottie, jumped into a cab and headed for the Roundhouse in Camden, where our two-day collaboration with young people with Tourettes – Idea Amplifier  – was about to start.…

My tics and I are both big fans of unpredictable outcomes. I like them because I enjoy doing creative activities where anything can happen, and my tics like them because unpredictable is what they do best.

We’re about to put this to the test very soon because tomorrow we’ll be switching on our Idea Amplifier for the first time.…

Yesterday evening I met up with Hannah, Emma and Laura, my former flatmates and friends of seventeen years. I was due to meet Laura first, at 6pm, but her bus got stuck in traffic. Will, who’d been supporting me throughout the day, had to go and catch a train on the other side of town at 7pm.…

I’ve got some exciting news, we’re looking for six creative young people with Tourettes (or associated conditions) aged between 16 and 25 to come and collaborate on a new project supported by Unlimited Impact and The Spirit of 2012 Trust.
