Last night Bunny and I went to an art event in East London where a diverse group of artists, actors, and musicians showed work they’d all made in response to a book called Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. There were lots of interesting, interactive installations including maps you could draw, magnetic scrabble pieces to move about, a light that flashed in time with the music and compliment pegs you could write on and attach to people.…

Not the sort of arms that lift boxes, open jars, tenderly hold children or in my case flap about haphazardly. I’m referring to a graffiti artist called Arms who’s having a battle of words with some building contractors using a large grey hoarding near the castle.…

Last year I wrote about seeing Mark Thomas’s stunning show Extreme Rambling at the Tricycle Theatre. I also described how the theatre manager asked me to move at the interval because someone in the audience had complained about my tics.

I went to the Tate Modern this morning for a meeting about some work I’m doing there. Because it’s a massive building and I needed to do a fair bit of moving about I used one of their complimentary wheelchairs.

When we went to get a lift to the upper floors I noticed a large sign next to it that said:

“Celebrate your ability to use your legs and please give priority to those who need to use the lifts.”…

This afternoon I had a meeting at Tate Modern and after it I decided I’d like to have a quick look at some of the exhibits there. I was tired and struggling to walk so Fran got me one of the Tate’s wheelchairs which they have for people to borrow.…

While yesterday’s comment about Tourettes by David Cameron created a lot of debate in the media, at first little of the coverage included the views of people with Tourettes. Fellow blogger Nicky Clark whose daughter has Tourettes spoke eloquently on the BBC.…

Once again, and for one day a year only, my “Happy Christmas” tic is in context so, Happy Christmas! Fat Sister’s gift from her employer, the NHS, is three fourteen hour shifts – including one today. Despite this she’s in good spirits.…
