I saw an interesting post on Facebook a few days ago by a fellow wheelchair-user. She was describing all the things she stashes away down the back of her wheelchair seat, and how one of these things, a pin, had worked it’s way down from the seat onto her electric wheelchair’s battery.…

Over the last week or so I’ve had a cold, which has meant I’ve been having more ‘ticcing fits’ than usual. This in turn means I haven’t had any Piggy Days (days without fits). But I’m sure the mysterious Pig Fairy who customises these rubber dog toys and turns them into magical rewards has welcomed the break and the opportunity to catch up on the backlog.…

I’ve written before about ‘Tourettes Mums’, the amazing mothers who fight tirelessly for their children who tic. But battling for your child day in, day out is physically and emotionally demanding. As regular readers will know, verbal communication gets extremely tricky for me during a ‘ticcing fit’. I almost always lose the ability to speak and have to switch to a blinking system in order to communicate.

That being said, I do occasionally say some things during a fit, but they’re never very useful or relevant.…

It was beautiful in London yesterday, warm and spring-like. On the way home the cab took a slightly different route from normal and went through an area where I used to live about eight years ago. We were weaving through streets I knew well, and the time of day and the light were deeply reminiscent of that time too.…

A few days ago comedian Jimmy Carr apparently made a lazy Tourettes joke on TV linking Tourettes to uncontrollable swearing. This wasn’t the first time for Jimmy, and a number of other comedians have made similar jokes recently. I’ve written before about why jokes that misrepresent the link between swearing and Tourettes are unhelpful and not funny.…

Leftwing Idiot and I were at Tate Britain this afternoon, continuing with our preparations for We Forgot The Lot!’ While we were there I had a ‘ticcing fit’. It started just as I was transferring from the toilet back into my wheelchair and like the one the other day, this was very badly timed.…

This is going to be a very short post because I’ve gone and got myself a cold. It happens at the same time every year, just when I think I’ve managed to stay well all winter. Everyone at work seems to be ill too though, so at least it’s not just me.…

In the early hours of this morning I woke with a start. I’d been dreaming I was in a house with Fat Sister. It was my house, although it wasn’t the castle. We were in the bathroom and she was helping me get washed and dressed.…
