A couple of weeks ago I had a ‘ticcing fit’ in the hallway of the castle that left a nasty impression on me.

During the fit my arm pressed against a hot radiator pipe. Because I couldn’t move I quickly found myself with a horrible big burn.…

The other day I wrote about a sudden influx of new ‘W’- based tics and songs. The latest addition to the collection, and my personal favourite, sung loosely to the tune of Santa Claus is coming to town, is this:

“I’m waving at cats,
I’m waving at cats,
I’m waving at cats but they’re not waving back,
I’m gonna just keep waving at cats.”…

Over the last few weeks a new wave of vocal tics has been sneaking its way into my repertoire, and weirdly all of them begin with W:

“Wave”
“Weevil”
“WAV File”

As well as getting into my ticced vocabulary as single words they’re also emerging in new ticced songs, including the highly catchy:

“I’m a WAV file,
WAV file,
I’m a little WAV file,
WAV file.”…

A few weeks ago I got a very interesting email from Felix Peckitt, a student, poet, programmer and fellow ticcer. He got in touch to tell me about some investigations he’d been carrying out using the thousands of my vocal tics.…

Late last night we got back to our hotel after an amazing performance of Backstage in Biscuit Land in Norwich, our biggest audience to date. I was seriously tired but happy too. Innes helped me get to bed and I fell asleep quickly.…

I’ve just been to the toilet.

To be able to do this safely I need a number of aids. Some of these are permanent and stay in the bathroom, like the grab rail and the emergency alarm. Others are things I need to replace regularly – for example the kneepads that protect me when I move onto the floor to pull up my knickers – or the leggings I wear so I don’t have to worry about fastenings – or the panty liners to help when I don’t make it to the toilet in time.…

We’ve been in Canterbury, Kent, for the last couple of days and despite Chopin being very under the weather we’ve had two great performances of Backstage in Biscuit Land at the Marlowe Theatre, both to full houses.

I’ve not been to Canterbury before although I feel very close to the place – it’s where my parents went to college, met, fell in love and lived for a while before moving to London and having me.…

The last few days have been emotional. On Friday Leftwing Idiot and I had our last full day at Oasis where we’ve worked for over five years.

Yesterday we were at the Battersea Arts Centre celebrating Touretteshero’s sixth birthday. Over 160 friends and supporters joined us for the party, many of who’ve been with us right from the start.…

Leftwing Idiot discovered something that clearly puzzled and disturbed him earlier this week. We’ve spent the last few days together in Galway for the incredible Creative Connections conference. I was feeling pretty under the weather for most of the time and, as always, this resulted in more ‘ticcing fits’ and less energy.…

I’ve had my beloved “biscuit” tic for almost six years now, and soon it’ll be the longest-serving of my vocal tics … but not quite yet. Before “biscuit” there was “squirrel”, by itself, or with variations like “squirrel, squirrel”, “squirrel tits” and even “A squirrel wearing its mum’s jumper.”…
