Beautiful Octopus

Tonight I joined a bunch of mates at the Beautiful Octopus Club, a club night showcasing music, theatre and dance by artists with disabilities. Headlining the evening were The Fish Police, a fantastic band whose lead singer has amazing stage presence.…

Woodland Creature Chic

Fat Sister’s back at the lair as she’s got a couple of days off after working night shifts. She’d bought me a present that I opened excitedly. She’d got me a hat – not just any old hat but a furry one with lopsided animal ears.…

The Knowledge

As I got out of the cab tonight the driver leant over and said, “The people who appear mad are often the most sane – it’s the people trying to be normal who are crazy.”

ET in East London

Earlier on I went with Leftwing Idiot to Stoke Newington. We stopped to pick up some food from one of the many amazing restaurants on the high street. The man who served us looked at me like I was from a different planet.…

The Sound of Silence

I travelled in the rush hour tonight. I’ve mentioned before how quiet commuter trains can be and today was no exception. The train was packed and everybody was travelling alone so there was no friendly chatter – just my squawks echoing through the carriage:

“Keep it down.…

An Added Thrill?

I’ve just watched The Fog by John Carpenter with Leftwing Idiot. I don’t cope well with horrors of any sort because suspense and excitement tend to make my tics over react.

Because I’m Worth It

I went out for a meal this evening with a bunch of friends and when we’d finished eating I popped to the toilet. As I sat down I realised the cubicle had just been painted with red gloss paint. Seconds later I head-butted the wall.…

To Camden and Beyond

I finished work late tonight and arrived home tired and wet. I’d been invited out by Ruth and was meant to be meeting her in Camden. But I hadn’t been able to find anyone to come with me and didn’t feel like making the long journey by bus and tube without help.…

Powerful Messages Pedal By

The rain was thumping down as I walked along Brixton high street and the traffic was crawling. The street was crowded and lots of people were staring nervously at me. I ignored them and squawked on by. A passing cyclist, weaving though the traffic wearing a fluorescent waterproof, shouted out to some anxious pedestrians, “Don’t be scared, she’s only got Tourettes.”

Untapped Market

On my way to meet Laura and Hannah this evening I was stopped in the street by a man who asked me if I had Tourettes. When I said yes he said, “In that case I’ve got the cure.” He then offered to sell me some Cannabis, which I politely declined.…
