Totem Pole

A few weeks ago, when Leftwing Idiot, Poppy and I were hanging out at the castle, Leftwing Idiot rested his head on top of Poppy’s. To the surprise of us all, this made me squeal with glee. I shouted excitedly that they looked like a totem pole, so they immediately started making totem-pole-esque poses that led to even more gleeful squealing and flapping from me.…

Crocadillo

A long time before this site went live Leftwing Idiot described me as a ‘Crazy language-generating machine’ and told me it’d be a real waste not to make imaginative use of my tics. It took a while but eventually I came to see how this could work, using them as a springboard for creativity.…

Strong Words

Last night Poppy and I were hanging out at Leftwing Idiot’s and while we were all in the living room deciding what to watch, my tics started berating yet another inanimate object in his flat.

The focus of their attention this time was a pile of four books under the sofa which are there to stop it sagging too much in the middle.…

Buzzer Blow

I’ve mentioned previously the buzzer I keep strapped to my hand while I’m asleep so I can raise the alarm if I have a ‘ticcing fit’ during the night. I’ve also mentioned the recent reoccurrence of my face-hitting tic. Jim Painted It For Me

A couple of weeks ago Poppy chuckled at something on her computer and said, ‘You should get Jim’ll Paint It to do one of your tics.’ I hadn’t heard of Jim’ll Paint It so she showed me his Facebook page, and I was blown away.…

Safesip

Yesterday King Russell, Fat Sister and I had a BBQ at the castle, the first this year. With Fat Sister’s help I made myself a suitably refreshing beverage – apple juice with lime and mint.

What’s particularly remarkable about this is that for the first time in years I was able drink from a normal glass.…

Ticcers Corner

It’s my pleasure to introduce another wonderful guest blog. Today, seventeen-year-old Joe shares his account of Saturday’s Ticnic. Over to you, Joe.

Great, I’ve been given the opportunity to add a bit to the wonderful Touretteshero blog, so here goes! Headphones in?…

Tic and Mix

Yesterday London was bathed in long-awaited sunshine, just in time for the annual Ticnic in Hyde Park. About a hundred people, either with Tourettes or a close connection to it, gathered for a relaxed afternoon of lolling and LOLing in the park.…

Mobility Road Trip

I took yesterday off and persuaded my dad and Fat Sister to do the same. Together we went on a road trip to the Mobility Roadshow in Telford, just north of Birmingham. The Roadshow’s an event devoted to products and innovations for people with mobility difficulties.…
