A Decade of Biscuits!

In just a few days time, Touretteshero will be turning ten!

That’s ten years of humour, creativity, events and… biscuits!

We’re obviously having a party and you’re invited.

The celebrations will take place at Battersea Arts Centre on Friday 7th February 2020 at 7.00pm.

A decade ago, I would never have dreamt that thinking, talking and writing about Tourettes would have such a positive impact on my life or that Touretteshero would grow from a simple idea into a fully formed organisation able to create big change.

A group of people of all backgrounds and ages celebrate the moment after a confetti cannon has gone off at Touretteshero's Brewing In Battersea event.

It seems right that we hold our celebration somewhere grand, and you can’t get much grander than Battersea Arts Centre’s Grand Hall. As well as celebrating our birthday BAC will also be launching as the world’s first Relaxed Venue – putting access and inclusion at the heart of everything they do.

We’ve been working with BAC over the last three years as part of the Arts Council England Change Makers programme to create a way for how other venues to go on the same journey and become Relaxed.

And if that isn’t quite enough to celebrate, the night will also mark the start of Going Global – Tarek Iskander’s first season as Artistic Director.

What to expect:

7pm onwards – Join us for a drink!
7:30pm – find out more about the Relaxed Venue methodology, created by Touretteshero in collaboration with Battersea Arts Centre
8pm to 10:30pm – party with Touretteshero and friends in the Grand Hall. The awesome line up is still a closely guarded secret, but expect laughter, dancing and the best of disability culture

This event is open to everyone – young people are welcome but will need to be accompanied by an adult.

There’s step free access to the Grand Hall. Accessible toilets and a chill out space are also available. This event will have captioning and BSL interpretation. Full access and pre-event information will be available very soon.

Many, many people have contributed to Touretteshero over the last ten years. This is our chance to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s helped, encouraged and laughed with us.

Please do come and join us!
