Handy Cats

I’ve written before about the importance of language in relation to disability, particularly about out-dated words that still sometimes crop up – words like ‘handicapped.’

But today my tics put a new spin on this unpleasant term:

“Handy-Cats”
“Am I handy-cats?”
“Help the handy-cats.”
“Do you love handy-cats?”

What’s amusing me most about this is picturing cats doing all sorts of useful things – my tics obviously think so too:

“Don’t worry, it’s just a cat with an angle grinder.”
“Don’t worry, the cat did the plumbing.”
“Don’t worry, the cats are managing woodland sustainably.”
