Leaf Drift

I’ve written before about my occasionally strained relationship with autumn. I do love it, but sometimes in the past the season and I have got a bit too up close and personal, with me spending much of October and November picking leaves out of hair, twigs out of wheels, and washing muddy jumpers.

But this is the first autumn with my all terrain wheelchair. I was full of childlike joy today as I rolled through a drift of leaves, kicking them out of the way with my toes. I don’t remember getting such a thrill from this experience since childhood. I feel very lucky to be able to connect with my surroundings again during this season.
