Big TED

Just over a month ago I shared my experience of Tourettes with 4,500 people at TEDx Albertopolis at the Royal Albert Hall in London. A while later I was contacted by someone from the main TED team and asked if I’d do an interview for their blog. I said yes – excited to have the chance to share Touretteshero with even more people.

Yesterday my interview went up on the main TEDx blog and the response so far has been great. If you’re one of the people just discovering Touretteshero as a result of the interview, do have a good look around this site. You can follow the ups and downs of my life with Tourettes on the daily blog, browse over 5,000 of my vocal tics, and explore the gallery of tic-inspired art. There are surreal videos like my tic-enriched horoscopes and other informative and very biscuity interviews.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Tourettes, the FAQ page is a good place to start, and details about my book Welcome to Biscuit Land are available here.

Please do come and find me on Twitter and Facebook and tell your friends and family about Touretteshero. Increased awareness and understanding makes a big difference to people living with Tourettes, and hopefully my tics will give you a big laugh too. Here are a few to get you started:

“I love big dogs and I cannot lie.”
“I’m a biscuit. The world seems so big.”
“Out of space is way too big.”
“Trees, you have got very big heads.”

Get in touch if you have any questions, ideas or thoughts, and if one of my tics captures your imagination and inspires you to illustrate it, please do upload your art to the gallery for everyone to enjoy.

Together we can continue to change the world one tic at a time.
