While I was out this evening a young man started to mimic the noises I was making. Bizarrely, he was so good at it that to begin with I was unsure whether it was me or not.

Once I’d worked it out I explained to the man that I had Tourettes. He seemed surprised, “I thought people with Tourettes swore.”

His mate answered, “It affects everyone differently.”

I confirmed this was true and explained that only 10% of people with Tourettes swear.

But as I walked away I started swearing and I heard the young man say to his friend, “See? Did you hear that?”
